How to fill in the BIBL search request
General instructions
Fill in the search request fields determining the information you want to retrieve. Leave all other fields blank. Each of the non-empty fields will be combined in the search request by the logical AND operator (except for the multiple lines in the Ions-Search Table). This means that if you specify, say, Kramida in the field "Author(s)" and 1997 in the field "Year", leaving all the other fileds blank, then all those papers, in which Kramida A.E. is a co-author AND which have been published in 1997, will be retrieved. Cyrillic symbols are presently not supported in the search request, although they may be present in the output. In this case, if your system does not support cyrillic (russian) symbols, please ignore them and look for the English translation which ought to be available.
Field "Author(s)"
In order to get the right author, you should specify his(her) last name exactly, and then enter the initials. You can specify two or more authors, separated by commas. For more detailed info, see the "Author names instructions" . You can read the complete list of available author names with addresses (500 Kbytes) if you click here.
Fields "Title fragment" and "Abstract fragment"
In the search request form, you
can use any fragment of text that must be present in the searched
papers, including spaces, brackets, etc.
If you use any lower-case symbol in
this search field, the search will be case sensitive. To make the
search case-insensitive , use only UPPER-CASE letters.
The search results will not depend
on whether the text fragment is broken by a line break in the
database record or not, because the line breaks are removed
before the search. For this reason, you can not search for the
text fragments which incorporate line breaks.
Field "Publication name"
This is a name of a journal, book or other matter where the searched papers were published. The name you specify should exactly match a BRIEF NAME (case sensitive) of this publication as given in the Publications list. If you specify an invalid publication name (missing in the list), the nearest alphabetic match will be used.
Field "Year"
Use only positive whole numbers in the ranges (1-99) and (1900-...) in this field. If the number is less than 100, the system will add 1900 to it.
Field "General keywords"
This field normally should be filled in only if you do
not want to fill in anything in the Ion-Search
Table. Typically, the review papers (REV keyword) or
papers describing some particular experimental or theoretical
technique (TECH keyword) can be found using this field. The other
useful examples are: FC (Fundamental Constants) and
AIR-REFRACTION (Air Refraction Index) topics which also are not
connected with any particular element/ion. Use the exact BRIEF
NAMEs from the list
of available keywords. If you specify an invalid keyword,
the database will return an error message. Multiple keywords can
be specified, separated by commas.
